Dr Suzanne Francisco

Director & Principal Behaviour Practitioner

Suzanne Francisco is a leading specialist behaviour support practitioner based in Mackay, Queensland, and leads Habitude, a behavioural design and development consultancy. In addition to being a NDIS registered service provider Suzanne is also a highly effective educator and leader.

  • Suzanne has achieved a Doctoral degree in Education with her thesis entitled “Ready, set, grow: The nature and power of teacher behaviour”. She also holds a Master’s Degree in Special Education, a Graduate Certificate in Mental Health, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Learning Management (Primary). Suzanne is an accredited executive coach, a qualified Justice of the Peace, registered Circle of Security Parenting facilitator, and a certified 123 Magic Self-Regulation and Emotion Coaching practitioner. A former deputy principal with Education Queensland, Suzanne also lectures Bachelor of Education students at CQUniversity in Special Needs and Indigenous Studies.

    Having recently completed the Company Directors course through the Australian Institute of Company Directors, Suzanne is also a non-executive director for MADEC, a very well-respected, not-for-profit disability support organisation in Mackay. In this role, Suzanne provides strategic direction and program oversight to the delivery of quality, person-centred disability and youth supports to clients in the Mackay region. Suzanne is also chairperson of their WH&S committee, and of the Mackay Behaviour Practitioners’ Community of Practice.

    A fifth-generation Mackay local, Suzanne is married to Rod and together they share five children, three grandchildren, one dog and one cat.

Rod Francisco has been recognised as one of Australia’s best human resources leaders, being awarded the Australian HR Institute Dave Ulrich HR Leader Award, for HR leadership excellence in 2019.

  • Rod Francisco has been recognised as one of Australia’s best HR leaders, being awarded the Australian HR Institute Dave Ulrich HR Leader Award, for HR leadership excellence, in 2019. Rod has been developing and building his HR and leadership capabilities for many years in a variety of roles and industries. Currently Rod is the Australian HR Institute Queensland State President, leading a State Council of highly capable HR professionals in developing and leading other HR practitioners across Queensland. He brings with him a wealth of experiences at all levels of an organisation in a variety of contexts, both in Australia and internationally, with a passion for growing and developing individuals and organisations to achieve better outcomes.

    An Army veteran with over 20 years of experience as a leader in maintenance and logistics, Rod has transitioned his leadership capabilities into the private and public sectors across industries as diverse as mining and exploration, manufacturing and logistics, agriculture, health, local government, and in the tertiary education sector as a sessional HR academic at CQUniversity and occasional lecturer at James Cook University. Rod is also a qualified workplace health and safety manager and auditor, with a strong and varied background in organisational wellness and psychosocial health and wellbeing.

    Rod has developed and delivered leadership capability frameworks and programs across all levels of organisations including specific to purpose programs for women, as well as diversity and inclusion. He has led the implementation of leadership programs for women and for organisational leaders on inclusive leadership. A passion for Rod is mentoring and he has been a HR industry mentor since 2006, as well as establishing the Mackay Mentoring Network which continues to flourish today. Rod delivers services and programs across the full spectrum of industries, sectors, organisations, and individuals as diverse as the disability and not-for-profit sector through to large resource companies and local governments.

    Additionally, Rod is an accredited workplace and business coach with qualifications in politics, business management, HR, and industrial relations.

    Being a Certified Practitioner HR, a Certified Practising Manager, and internationally accredited Chartered Manager has allowed Rod to be appointed as a Fellow of both the Australian HR Institute and the Institute of Managers and Leaders.

    Rod is grateful to be married to Suzanne and admits to being the owner of the two floppy cats! Suzanne and Rod share five children and four grandchildren across Mackay, Townsville, and the Northern Territory.
